Prefects from New Flame High School in Harare learn new leadership skills they can apply on their campuses.
Harare, Zimbabwe—On 11 April 2026, the Young Leaders League (Y2L) conducted a one-day Leadership and Development Studies (LADS) Prefects Training at New Flame High School in Glaudina, Harare. The training brought together 35 prefects from the school’s two campuses and aimed to strengthen their leadership skills.
The training covered four key areas: Character, Competency, Communication, and Teamwork. Character sessions explored integrity, discipline, responsibility, and leading by example. Competency sessions covered decision-making, problem-solving, accountability, and effectively carrying out leadership duties. Communication lessons focused on confident speaking, active listening, and conflict resolution, while interactive teamwork activities helped build collaboration, trust, and collective problem-solving.
As a result, the school is building a stronger pipeline of young leaders of integrity, youth mentors, and agents of change. Other positive outcomes include stronger student–parent relationships and better-prepared prefects ready to launch transformation projects in their school community.
The training equipped participants with practical leadership skills, fresh insights, and renewed motivation to serve their peers and communities with excellence.
