Our History

Founded in 2003 by Prof. Delanyo Adadevoh, the International Leadership Foundation (ILF) is a global initiative in direct response to the need for developing leaders of integrity who can lead transformation in their spheres of influence and in broader society. ILF believes that societies with new futures can be created through mindset shifts that result from engagements with truth and corresponding right actions. Transforming minds results in transforming leadership understandings and actions and, consequently, in transforming societies that are values-driven, cohesive, and effective. New societies call for new leadership, and new leadership calls for new mindsets. Therefore, the renewal of mindsets is foundational to societal transformation.

ILF focuses on developing and equipping leaders of integrity with the competencies to lead transformation with clear principles and processes.

Since 2003, ILF’s operations have expanded from Africa to Latin America, Asia, Europe, and North America. Transforming leadership initiatives have equipped over 25,000 leaders, including Heads of State, Prime Ministers, top public servants, politicians, and leaders in business and academia. ILF develops leaders to spearhead transformation in specific spheres of society, including family, government, religion, education, science and technology, business/economics, media, and sports/arts/entertainment.

AFRICA

ILF began its initial work on the continent of Africa in 2002. Since then, ILF has expanded to 18 countries in Africa, including Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. In addition to Transforming Leadership & Governance Seminars, ILF’s youth initiative called Young Leaders League (Y2L) and the development program called Leadership & Development Studies (LADS) have accelerated the growth and expansion of ILF. National education systems are lauding Y2L/LADS in some countries in Africa.

EUROPE

Based on invitations from European leaders, ILF began working in Tirana, Albania, in September 2015. ILF’s materials and training seminars have been modified to be culturally relevant and appealing to the Eastern European audience. There are discussions to begin serving Western Europe, starting with training seminars in London.

LATIN AMERICA

After discussions with key leaders in Latin America, ILF launched its training seminars on the continent in March 2016. Training seminars have been conducted in Argentina, Aruba, Bolívia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Curazao, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Surinam, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Additionally, ILF is working with Latinos in North America.

ASIA

Because of the worldwide pandemic, the Asia Leadership Foundation (ALF) began utilizing webinars to continue their work of training leaders of integrity in South Korea and the Korean diaspora. One type of training conducted by ALF is in Metacognition. These courses allow participants to help realize their identities, identify what fulfills them, and confirm the meaning of their existence. In 2023, ALF will help refugees who struggle to adapt to South Korean society by pairing them with a coach.
